about

Melissa DelPrete (b. New York, 1987) is grounded in a lifelong commitment to creative exploration. Her work draws from traditions of craft, the formal principles of abstraction, design and expressionism. Through intuitive calligraphic mark-making and atmospheric color fields, Melissa creates layered compositions that blend inherited techniques with contemporary sensibilities.

Deeply inspired by the rhythms and resonance of wild landscapes, her process explores archetypal patterns and subtle currents found in nature. Each piece is a study of how material, gesture, and intuition converge to reveal new understandings of identity and connection.

Melissa holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and an MS in Art Education from LIU Post. Based in Lake Worth Beach, FL, she is the founder of mtn space, a gallery dedicated to putting on thoughtful and relevant programming. Melissa’s dedication to her practice and to fostering artistic community underscores her distinctive voice and ongoing contributions to contemporary art.
